The Port Ludlow golf course is one of the many resort amenities that are available to Port Ludlow homeowners and residents. This spectacular course was designed by Robert Muir Graves, architect of over 60 courses and one of the masters of golf course design, member of the California Golf Writers Association Hall of Fame and co-author of Golf Course Design Port Ludlow's golf course is open year-round. The 27 holes are subdivided into three courses of nine holes each: Tide, Timber, and Trail.
Available services include expert golf instruction, including private golf lessons, three-day golf schools, and more. If you are an occasional golfer, you are probably interested in the golf course's al la carte rates. The golf course also offers a Golf Club program to Port Ludlow residents, guests, and members of the general public. Current initiation fees are $5,000 for singles and $8,000 for couples. Monthly dues are currently $180(+tax) for singles and $280(+tax) for couples. Membership in the golf course's golf club provides unlimited golf (no additional greens fees) with preferred tee times, eligibility to play in special Port Ludlow Golf Club events and the local leagues, and discount rates on cart rentals, balls, clothing, and guest green fees. Package rates are also available for balls and cart. You can select from several programs depending on your budget and your enthusiasm for golf. Many Port Ludlow golfers also belong to one or more of the local leagues, such as the Men's Golf Association (18 holes), the Women's Golf Association (18 holes), or the men's or women's Nifty Niners (9 holes). Monthly golf news, tips, team scores, and event schedules are reported in the Port Ludlow Voice. Along with a pro shop, the golf course includes Niblick's cafe, a great place to relax and enjoy a beverage or meal in the afternoon or an early dinner. The golf course, pro shop, and cafe are privately owned by Port Ludlow Associates. Previous owners include Olympic Resources and the developer, Pope & Talbot. The Port Ludlow golf course is situated in the 'South Bay' area of Port Ludlow, on meadows and along the sides of hills that slope up from the back of Port Ludlow Bay. This location is perfectly situated so that the golf course area enjoys some protection from any prevailing winds and weather. The golf course's is surrounded by homes, along with a few lots here and there, which will eventually be developed into custom Port Ludlow homes. Homes along the Port Ludlow golf course may be either adjacent to the course or may be set back from the course with a view of the greens. Most of the homes are single family residences but there is also one development of condominiums which are golf course view homes. If you are a frequent golfer, in addition to enjoying a golf course view, one of the advantages of owning a home along the Port Ludlow golf course is that your commute to the golf course can be in your own golf cart. Rather than paying for cart rentals, you just pay an annual fee for insurance and trail maintenance. |
