1900s in Port Ludlow

At the beginning of the twentieth century, logging was an important economic activity in Port Ludlow and Puget Sound despite several boom and bust cycles. Pope & Talbot had contracts with the U.S. Government to supply timber for bridge building to support the war efforts. They owned a fleet of ships in addition to timber lands and lumber mills.

Part way through the 1900s, Pope & Talbot started shifting their attention to development of some of their vast tracts of development around Puget Sound.

The history of Port Ludlow as a destination for travellers started in the early 1900s. Cyrus Walker's mansion was well known for it's hospitality, and when he retired in the 19-teens, it became the Admiralty Hotel and continued to be a magnet for travellers.

In the 1960s, a family resort plus residential development started in Port Ludlow.
